Come join us in the 2008 Race for Research and help us in the fight against brain tumors. Last year was a great success and we raised over $300,000 to go directly to research institutions. However, there is much work to be done and we need your help.
This disease has had a devastating effect on many individuals but never has research held so much promise of finding a cure. However, research takes money and with less government funding available private research monies are more important than ever. This is your chance to make a difference, so please come participate...
Exhibit on blindness lets you see ... nothing
If you were blind, could you navigate your way around a busy city street or distinguish between a $1 bill and a $50 bill if you were trying to buy a beer at a bar?
These are some of the challenges visitors will face at a 20,000-square-foot interactive exhibition coming to Atlantic Station this summer.
The exhibit, which runs Aug. 30 through March 1, is making its U.S. debut in Atlanta after a long European run, Zaller said...
Atlanta's newest monument -- Millennium Gate -- opens with flourish
Atlanta's own Arc de Triomphe opened eight years into the new millennium with a flourish of balloons, a barrage of fireworks and a quirky parade that included Lady Liberty, a bust of George Washington and a costumed Gen. James Oglethorpe, who thanked spectators for living in the state he founded.
The Latin inscription atop the arch dedicates it to peace, but there was no doubt whose name was all over the limestone facing: Rodney Cook Jr., the Atlanta designer who masterminded the project and raised $15 million in private funds to pay for it...

New Motorcycle Policy
After receiving a number of complaints from Atlantic Station residents and guests about the noise and disruptions caused by motorcycles, a policy is now in place that prohibits motorcyclists from riding through and parking in the main retail district in Atlantic Station. However, we welcome motorcyclists to park in Target, IKEA or on-street parking spaces throughout Atlantic Station outside of the main retail district. Much of this parking is well within walking distance of all Atlantic Station stores, restaraunts and entertainment options. This policy applies to motorcycles only and does not apply to mopeds or scooters with engines smaller than 150 cc...

Call it the Four Seasons of day care. It's FIO360, nestled in the heart of Atlantic Station, and it could very well be the most upscale day care in metro Atlanta.
And with a monthly price tag ranging from $1,529 for preschoolers and $1,708 for infants, it could be the most expensive, too.
Stretching 21,000 square feet, the plastics-free space features bamboo floors, Solatube skylights and saltwater fountains. It also boasts an alphabet climbing wall, non-toxic art supplies and a Lego Dome....

Metro Atlanta ranks 14th among 30 walkable cities
By one new measure of walkability, metro Atlanta is middle of the road. Or, depending on where you are, middle of the sidewalk.
The region ranked 14th among the 30 largest American metropolitan areas in a survey of walkable urban places released Tuesday by the Brookings Institution. The think tank based in Washington, D.C. put it's home city at the top of the list, followed by Boston, San Francisco, Denver and Portland...
