Area dignitaries and officials of Atlantic Station will invite the public to join us in Atlantic Station’s Central Park to welcome the shopping public to Atlantic Station for the very first time.  A drumline, speeches and the official opening ceremony will signify the retail district shops and restaurants to be open to one and all.

Q100.5FM’s personality Geller will be on site near Central Park in Atlantic Station, broadcasting on the big grand opening events and introducing the station’s “One Life to Win” promotion and partnership with Atlantic Station and it’s retailers.

6:00 pm – 10:00 pm:  Cocktails 4 a Cause
The Cocktails for a Cause organization (www.cocktails4acause.com) regularly partners with various restaurant venues to bring a fundraising opportunity to metro Atlantans; it’s a weekly celebration that helps area charitable organizations raise funds for very worthy causes. On October 20, Cocktails for a Cause patrons will visit Fox Sports Grill in to raise funds for the campaign to create a new “brand” for the city of Atlanta and to promote our city’s cultural entertainment.   Cocktails 4 a Cause offers patrons the chance to purchase a ticket for a suggested $10 donation upon entry; the ticket entitles the bearer to food and drink specials in the establishment, as well as the chance to win great prizes provided by Atlantic Station retailers.  To join in the fun, visit Fox Sports Grill at 6 p.m. and make your $10 donation to Brand Atlanta – then enjoy the environment in Atlantic Station’s hottest new destination.

10:00 am – 7:00 pm:  It’s Prizes + Surprises:  A Prize Every Hour in Atlantic Station
Each hour throughout grand opening weekend, Atlantic Station will be giving away A PRIZE EVERY HOUR, courtesy of Atlantic Station retailers.  Each hour, Atlantic Station presents the opportunity for a lucky shopper to win a fabulous prize courtesy of one of our great retailers, and you could be a big winner.  Here’s how it works:  beginning 10 am Friday, October 21, shoppers may begin registering for the prize that will be given away at the top of that hour.  A 10:55, registration for the 11 am prize closes.  All entries will be taken to the main stage set up in Atlantic Station’s Central Park and placed in a hopper.  At 11, that hour’s winner is chosen – and the winner must be present to win.  If not present at the main stage, the winner then has 30 minutes to claim his or her prize.  If not claimed within 30 minutes, that hour’s prize rolls over to the next hour’s drawing, and TWO prizes are given away to the winner of the next hour’s drawing.  The registration and hourly drawings continue thoughout the day, with the last prize of the day given away at 7:00 pm.  An added twist – you must re-register each hour to be considered for the next hour’s prize.

5:00 pm:  Randstad After-Work Lounge Party featuring Cindy and Ray & Nudge at Night
At 5 o’clock, Cindy and Ray will open up the Randstad After Work Lounge, featuring comfortable places to relax and a hip and funky vibe.   Come sip a Michelob Ultra and enjoy the music, fun and people watching.  It’s a perfect place to meet friends for a warm-up to the BIG CONCERT later in the evening.  At 7:00 pm, “Nudge at Night” takes over to keep the fun rolling.

7:30 pm:  Star 94FM Concert featuring Natasha Bedingfield and Collective Soul
Atlantic Station and Star94FM welcome Atlanta to a Concert Event celebrating the official opening of Atlantic Station, featuring Tommy Lee, Natasha Bedingfield and favorite hometown rockers Collective Soul.  The concert is a benefit for the Atlanta Food Bank; please bring a non-perishable food item to help feed those in need.  Collective Soul has long been one of Atlanta’s greatest pop music success stories, and the band has a devoted local and national following.  Collective Soul is known for the hits “Shine,” “The World I Know,” “Blame,” “December,” and “Precious Declaration.”   Natasha Bedingfield exploded onto the music scene in 2004 with the hit singles “Single,” “These Words,” and “Unwritten” from her debut album, “Unwritten.”  The concerts will be located on ground/P2 level, on the pad development site for Building 12, adjacent to Dillard’s/Pier 1 and Fox Sports Grill. more info

The Metro Atlanta Arts & Culture Coalition is proud to showcase all the best of Atlanta’s performing arts scene during Atlantic Station’s Grand Opening Celebration.  Enjoy diverse entertainment throughout the day, guaranteed to please even the most discriminating tastes.  Performances will be scheduled throughout Satuday and Sunday on the ATLofts Park Stages in Central Park. 

Some of the groups and performers on Saturday include Neighborhood Playhouse “Tis the Season;” Special Edition International Dance Team; the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus; Capitol City Opera; the Georgia Ballet; Dad’s Garage and Laughing Matters.  In addition, the Center for Puppetry Arts and costume character Arthur of Imagine It!  The Children’s Museum of Atlanta will be roaming. more info

11:00 am –5:00 pm:  “Shop with the Stars” and Radio One Live Broadcast from Central Park

When the sun goes down this Saturday night, up to a dozen glowing hot air balloons will fill the night sky around Atlantic Station with dazzling colors - creating magical patterns against the city skyline.  The Balloon Glow will feature a collection of hot air balloons clustered around Atlantic Station, which glow in a synchronized fashion by firing the balloons' burners.  The effect is much like a field of Chinese lanterns.  The colorful balloons glowing contrasted against the dark night sky is truly a vision to behold - a breathtaking sight and a photographer's delight.  Spectators are invited to walk around the balloons and talk to the pilots.

7:00 am – 10:00 am: American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk
Breast Cancer will strike more than 200,000 times this year and claim more than 40,000 lives. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a non-competitive walk designed to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research, services, patient education, and advocacy.  Atlantic Station is the new home for this exciting event in 2005.  5,000 people from corporations, community groups, and churches from all around the metro area will gather in Central Park for this 5K walk.  Walkers will check in beginning at 7:00 am, enjoying music, entertainment and camaraderie until the walk begins at 8:00 am.  Walkers will leave Central Park, headed down 19^th Street, over the Northside Drive bridge, circle back in front of IKEA , past the elliptical pond, up 17^th Street and across the yellow bridge, u-turning at Spring Street to re-enter Atlantic Station, and come up our Central Promenade back into Central Park for closing ceremonies at 9:30 am.   Tents and set up will begin to break down following the event at 10 am and will be completed by 11 am.  For event information, click here.
