The Arthritis Walk is the Arthritis Foundation's annual nationwide event that supports public awareness and raises funds to fight arthritis, the nation's leading cause of disability. It is a tremendous opportunity to help improve the lives of the 46 million men, women and children with arthritis. Get your company involved or recruit friends and family members to form a team. Best of all, when you walk in honor of a loved one with arthritis, you know you’re making a difference. The Atlantic Station Market is an “Open-Air” market showcasing local artisans, antiques, handcrafted items and unique vendors.  The outdoor festival-style market hosts up to 100 merchants offering unique items, edibles and more.  Market hours are 11am – sunset on Saturday, and 12noon – sunset on Sunday. There is no admission, so come browse and enjoy this unique and unusual environment! Atlantic Station is pleased to announce a new weekly program - the Station Stroll - for in-town moms, dads, and caregivers. Every Wednesday, moms and their children in strollers are invited to meet at Central Park for a one-mile walk through Atlantic Station. Coffee and socializing begin at 9:30am and the stroll begins at 10:00am.  Most retailers open at 10 am on weekdays so shopping and dining are a great option after (or during!) the stroll. Join us for a morning out and a fun opportunity to meet other in-town moms and their babies! May 10, 7:45am: Komen Atlanta Race for the Cure
The 2008 Komen Atlanta Race for the Cure® is set for Mother's Day weekend, Saturday, May 10 in Atlantic Station! Join 15,000 participants for the 18th annual breast cancer race to help raise awareness of the disease, and help fund breast cancer education, screening and treatment for women in the Atlanta community. Race for the Cure’s goal is to surpass 2007’s record-breaking $1,500,000 - and we need your help. Create a Race team, join the Race as an individual, pledge a participant or volunteer to help on race day. Plans for race day include a jazzercise aerobic cool-down, one-mile walk through the shops and parks in Atlantic Station, the co-ed 5K run/walk event, an awards and breast cancer survivor recognition ceremony and a large expo of race sponsors. May 30 – June 1: AVP Atlanta Open - Fun, Sun and Sand in Atlantic Station
The best professional beach volleyball players will return to Atlanta May 30 – June 1 for the AVP Atlanta Open, the eighth event of the 2008 Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) Crocs Tour.  The AVP Crocs Tour is comprised of the best men’s and women’s professional beach volleyball players in the U.S. and the world. Featuring more than 150 of the sport’s top competitors, the Tour includes world-class athletes such as 2004 Olympic gold medalists Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor as well as other Olympic medalists and professional stars like Holly McPeak, who won the sport’s first gold medal in Atlanta.  For more about the tournament including the session schedule and ticket information, visit www.avp.com.
