Rosa Mexicano Makes Its Atlanta Debut
New York’s Authentic Mexican Restaurant Comes to Atlantic Station

Rosa Mexicano Restaurants, a fan favorite for more than 20 years in New York City and other cities, will bring its authentic Mexican cuisine to Atlantic Station in February.  The new casual fine dining restaurant will share the spirit of its sister restaurants in New York City and Washington D.C. delivering authentic Mexican food in an exciting, modern and friendly atmosphere.  Culinary Director Roberto Santiban0ez, an award-winning chef from Mexico City, will oversee the kitchen along with Executive Chef Stacie Meehan.

In 1984, Rosa Mexicano (Spanish for “Mexican pink”), introduced New Yorkers to the traditional foods and distinctive flavors of Mexico with the mission to present them more elegantly than had been done up to that point, and provide the best possible dining experience to every guest.  Since then, Rosa Mexicano made a name for itself with its Guacamole en Molcajete prepared to order tableside — a first in the United States — using a traditional lava-rock mortar, or molcajete.  The combination of simple, fresh ingredients: tomatoes, onions, cilantro, jalapeño peppers and Hass avocados are a taste guests literally crave.  Another signature crowd pleaser is the Frozen Pomegranate Margarita made with pomegranate juice, white tequila, triple sec and lime juice.

Unlike Tex-Mex, true Mexican food is rustic, flavorful every day food, but also nuanced in its use of heat and spice.  Mixiote de Borrego (lamb shank marinated in tequila and chiles and slow-cooked in parchment paper) and Cochinita Pibil (slow baked achiote-marinated pork served in a cast iron skillet) are just two popular examples on the menu.  Chef Santibañez visits Mexico several times a year to ensure the food and drink at Rosa Mexicano remain true to their roots and to see the trends influencing Mexican food and culture.

Rosa Mexicano’s design was created by celebrated restaurant architect David Rockwell (who also created the interiors at the Lincoln Center–area and Washington, DC restaurants).  A dramatic 18’ high water wall will be the eye-catching centerpiece of the 200-seat restaurant with miniature white Acapulco Divers seemingly springing out of the water flowing down the blue glass tiled wall behind them.  The lounge area will feature a zig-zag wall, and there will also be a private dining area that will accommodate up to 60 guests.

Rosa Mexicano will serve lunch and dinner seven days a week. Lunch will be available from 11:30 am – 3:00 pm daily with brunch specials on Saturday and Sunday.  The lunch menu will offer signature dishes, as well as an extended selection of salads and sandwiches, tailored to the working lunch crowd and Atlantic Station shoppers.  Dinner will be available Tuesday – Saturday from 5:00 pm – 11:30 p.m., Sunday 4:00 pm – 11:00 pm and Monday 5:00 pm – 11:00 pm.  Rosa Mexicano will be located in Atlantic Station at 245 18th Street and online at www.rosamexicano.com
