Atlantic Station Regal Cinemas 16 Welcomes Atlanta Jewish Film Festival

On January 23, the Atlanta Chapter of the American Jewish Committee will open the 6th Annual Jewish Film Festival (AJFF) at its newest venue, the Regal Cinemas Atlantic Station 16. The Festival is a cinematic celebration of Jewish life and culture that entertains and educates, while challenging conventional perspectives on complex and challenging issues facing Jewish people and the world community alike. The 2006 AJFF runs January 23 through January 29, and features a diverse mix of narrative, documentary, studio, independent, foreign, feature and short length programs.

Five films will be screened at Regal Cinemas 16 in Atlantic Station, including the Festival's Opening Night film, "A Bridge to Peace" on Monday, January 23, the world premiere of the documentary following the 2005 concert tour in Poland of stage and screen legend Theodore Bikel and other musicians from the Mostar Sinfonietta orchestra, an ensemble of Christian and Muslim survivors of the war in Bosnia. Theodore Bikel will be the special guest at Opening Night Celebration at Regal Cinemas 16, along with his musical director Tamara Brooks. Screening at Regal Cinemas 16 on Thursday, January 26 is the comedy When Do We Eat?, starring Michael Lerner and Leslie Ann Warren, and Free Zone starring Natalie Portman. On Saturday, January 28, the AJFF will present The Syrian Bride, the story of an Israeli woman marrying a Syrian man, and The Tenants, the film adaptation of Bernard Malamud novel exploring the friendship and eventual alienation of two writers, one Jewish, one black.
