Latin Flavor is Back at Atlantic Station

Celebrity chef Hector Santiago joins Latin Food Festival: Degustar, A Taste of Latin America

Latin flavor and celebrity Chef Hector Santiago will spice up the second Latin American food festival: Degustar, A Taste of Latin America. The event, presented by the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, will be May 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Atlantic Station.

Food lovers will enjoy bites of traditional dishes and new creations from Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico and Spain.

The chef/owner of Pura Vida and “Cheftestant” on “Top Chef” Season 6, Hector Santiago, will offer a free cooking demonstration at around 1 p.m.

Other demonstrating chefs are Oscar Mendivil, Executive chef of Lime Taqueria; Raul Thomas, from Raul’s Catering Service; and Jaime Garcia, from Machu Picchu Restaurant.

Among the participants are: Brazilian Bakery, Costa Verde Peruvian Restaurant,  Coco Loco Cuban Restaurant, Eclipse di Luna, El Azteca, El Toro Mexican Grill Grant Park, Frontera Catering, Lime Taqueria, Los Andes Bakery, Machu Picchu Peruvian Restaurant, Mezcalitos Mexican Restaurant, Minas Emporium, Pura Vida Tapas Raul’s Catering Service, Sausage World, El Toro Mexican Grill, and The Iberian Pig Kitchen and Bar.

In addition, attendants can vote for their favorite dishes for the People’s Choice Awards for the first, second and third place. The winners will be announced at the end of the event.

Degustar will include an exhibit by the Atlanta Zoo, professional race cars, the Atlanta Braves B.A.T. team, and Latin music provided by PR Productions.
